difficult people
I've lived in the east village since 1981 and now I am dealing with gentrification. being a person of color I am now being discriminated against by the new generation of people living in the building. Just a few days ago (TO BE EXACT thursday april 13, I just came back from running my errands and stopped to answer a call on my cell phone on the stoop of my building. sometime during my conversation I was interrupted by someone living in the basement apartment telling me to keep my voice down becuase she had her apartment door open and that her baby was sleeping—well, didn't she tell me to keep my voice down in an unecessry tone.
I told her to close the door—she started shouting profanity at me and calling me names out of my character. I am trying to say that— had I been a different type of person another situation could've ensued from that confrontation. what she said was very unecessary and very stupid; when you consider that you are living in alphabet city and you expect people to be quiet as if you are living in some country area then one should've stayed where they were at in the first place.
